Kenji Lee is a saxophonist, composer-improviser, and educator based outside of Detroit.
He is on tour in anticipation of an upcoming release with percussionist Jonathan Barahal Taylor and bassist Andrew Peck (GR Native). The music represents explorations through jazz, folk (both western & japanese), classical, and rock music - ultimately synthesizing the material in a way that provides the groundwork for honest creative expression. The music is joyful and generous - creating universes of emotions and formal possibilities behind catchy melodic statements.
